Chickaloon Village
Located on the Glenn Highway at Mile 56.5, Chickaloon Village is a tiny community of roughly 200 people. Ahtna Athabascan Indians have occupied this area for centuries, and the rich history of the Native culture remains strong here. In 1916, Chickaloon became the terminus of the Matanuska Branch of the Alaska Railroad. This is a great area for hiking, fishing and recreation.
